Sustainability

With a focus on quality materials, product longevity and a circular approach to design, our studio is able to contribute to the sustainable integrity of each project we are involved in.

Our design approach

Sustainability is at the heart of the practice and with 14 years of making in London, we have developed fabrication methods and an extensive network of suppliers that ensure the quality and provenance of the objects we produce.

We are material-obsessed. We spend significant time with clients discussing and sourcing the most appropriate materials. Materials often drive the final design outcome.

Sustainability

Sustainability is at the heart of our business. From perfecting the use of reclaimed London timbers to utilizing the incredible array of UK grown materials, we advocate products that promote environmental health and personal wellbeing.

Ours is an ongoing process of learning and improving. By designing products that reduce our own environmental impact, we hope to forge new pathways, uncovering the possibilities in responsible manufacturing.

Our products are often made with disassembly and re-use in mind and this often informs the design and approach to specific joinery details.

We think of our waste in terms of regeneration. All our offcuts are donated to a local charity supported by Age UK called People In Sheds, where the material is used towards community efforts in creating sellable goods which sustain their organisation and improve mental health of its members.

Longer lasting

Considered design and build brings beauty and longevity. Something to be cherished for generations. We encourage a buy less but buy better practice.

Provenance

Over the many years of working with wood, we have trusted suppliers and are always aiming to identify a chain of custody from forest to timber with wood types we use.

Reclaimed timber

But in the end, re-using and reclaiming is by far the most sustainable. This understanding has steered the course of our work, underpinned ranges of furniture and resulted in us leading highly publicised workshops – from Peckham to Delhi via France.
