N°17 Dickens Yard

Another commission from Darwin & Wallace for their Signature range.

The tables and chairs were created from pine and Douglas fir reclaimed from Victorian roof trusses. As always, we kept as much of the woods’ pits, scrapes and flavoursome surface textures as we could.

A rigorous removal of Victorian metalwork took place before the timber could be processed. Among the nails, we were overjoyed to find lead bullets buried deep in the wood. A bit of research identified them as dating back 150 years to the crimean war.

Reclaimed wood that brings to life historic events sets our imaginations alight. A good day’s making.
